Manufacturers generally agree
that most gas appliances should be inspected and if necessary cleaned at
intervals no more than 12 months. Taking a central heating boiler for
example, use over a year will result in build up of deposits on the heat
exchanger that if not removed can bake on so hard that they become difficult
or impossible to get off later. This decreases efficiency and with the cost
of gas being what it is at the moment it doesn't take long before your
un-maintained boiler is burning more in excess gas, than the cost of having
it serviced. You may also be running with increased carbon emissions, which
in the long term is no good for anyone. When servicing, we use the very
latest digital gas analysis equipment and perform all checks to manufacturers
specifications.

Another good reason for having
appliances serviced is your safety. It is imperative that conventionally
flued (with a chimney or flue pipe) gas appliances be checked every year without
fail. We're sure you've seen media images and articles on dangers of carbon
monoxide. The great shame is that the majority of these deaths/injuries
would not have happened if the appliances in question had been checked by a
competent person. Sometimes people are tempted to just clean the outer of
the appliance with a vacuum cleaner and be satisfied that they've 'serviced'
it themselves, but how would they know if something had blocked or
restricted the flue for example?
So take our advice, get your
appliances checked EVERY year, you'll be better off financially, greener and
confident that your appliance is operating as safely as possible.
